Just so we're clear. Pupils in primary and secondary schools in SA wear masks throughout the school day except when they are eating/drinking. This includes exams. Since Apr 2020, no break even though currently level 1 restrictions.

@guardiannews 07:56 Covid update:"The number of confirmed Omicron Covid cases in South Africa is still relatively low, with 2,828 new confirmed cases recorded on Friday". Sounds like 2,828 Omicron cases but only 77 are Omicron. SA 2,828 TOTAL new cases Fri vs 40,000 in UK.
