Point to keep in mind: Fight vs. Negotiate is a false dichotomy. This war will end in a negotiated settlement but the nature of that settlement will be determined by the outcome of the fighting.

@SpaghettiKozak @extra7008 Right, his project is not to abandon Ukraine, it’s to resolve the conflict (ongoing since 2014) diplomatically, which requires concessions. I can see why you would disagree with that approach, but I don’t think it’s illogical or made in bad faith.

@extra7008 @SpaghettiKozak The thesi was that providing weapons was not a substitute for diplomacy and avoiding war in the first place. Though diplomacy proved impossible, unless you deny the genocide that’s taking place, you can’t argue that Ukraine is worse off now then when the war began.

People shouldn’t be calling to get him fired. And published under the original headline, he wouldn’t be getting vilified to the same degree.

@SpaghettiKozak @johnny_sarcasm @IAPonomarenko I think the explanation here is a consistent dynamic within think tanks. Likely both CAST and RAND are informed by military planners making conservative assumptions of their own forces and assuming their adversaries are competent and effective.

If there was no public transit, traffic would stop ppl from getting anywhere and the entire city would have to look like a parking lot. Instead, you can get anywhere for $2.75. 3 million ppl take the train every day. It is an unequivocal good.

@HeerJeet @lionel_trolling The reverse-deep state comparison is maybe a little too conspiratorial. That competent non partisan bureaucrats could check trump when he did something illegal doesn’t necessarily require the same level of partisanship or scheming as QAnon’s conception of government.
