I’m proud of you @heraskevych, for your courage and bravery. The helmet with portraits of fallen Ukrainian athletes is a tribute, not a rule violation!
Sport doesn’t mean forgetting. True strength is having the courage to remain human, even in the toughest times🇺🇦
✍️ 'This is not politics. This is pure evil,' writes @simonrbriggs.
'And while Ukraine continues to shake under daily bombardment from Russian drones, Heraskevych should have the right to salute the fallen.'

Modern Ukraine stands on the stories and deeds of thousands of heroes – those who have given their lives for us and shown the true meaning of dignity and courage.
Honoring the fallen is dignity. Standing by what you believe in, despite every obstacle, is courage.
Thank you, Vladyslav, and all Ukrainian Olympians for setting this example. Thank you for upholding real – not merely declarative – Olympic values and for reminding the world who we are.
Slava Ukraini!

They were killed, but their voice is so loud that the IOC is afraid of them.
I am convinced that we did not violate any IOC rules (the infamous Rule 50), and therefore we have every right to wear this helmet.
Thanks to their sacrifice, we are alive today and can be part of these Olympic Games. And I sincerely believe that it is precisely because of their sacrifice that these Olympic Games can take place at all today.
Even though the IOC wants to betray the memory of these athletes, I will not betray them.
The Olympic Games are meant to celebrate excellence in sport, discipline, sacrifice, and greatness forged through years of hard work. More than 650 Ukrainian athletes will never stand on an Olympic stage. They were killed by Russians. Their lives were cut short, their careers ended forever.
Against this reality, the decision to ban the helmet of our athlete @heraskevych, which commemorates some of our fallen, is profoundly wrong.
Remembering the dead is not politics. It is dignity. I thank Vladyslav for his decision and extend my gratitude to all our athletes who continue to represent modern-day Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, bringing global attention to the challenges we are facing and living through, while raising our flag with pride and dignity.
The @iocmedia should honor those who can no longer compete, not silence their memory.
@iocmedia This is the literal definition of garbage. I hope you experience the same kind of ‘peace’ russia is famous for, and that everyone reacts with the same indifference. #MilanoCorina2026@iocmedia@Olympics
His helmet bears portraits of our athletes who were killed by Russia. Figure skater Dmytro Sharpar, who was killed in combat near Bakhmut; Yevhen Malyshev, a 19-year-old biathlete killed by the occupiers near Kharkiv; and other Ukrainian athletes whose lives were taken by Russia’s war.
I thank the flag bearer of our national team at the Winter Olympics, Vladyslav Heraskevych, for reminding the world of the price of our struggle.
This truth cannot be inconvenient, inappropriate, or called a “political demonstration at a sporting event.” It is a reminder to the entire world of what modern Russia is.
And this is what reminds everyone of the global role of sport and the historic mission of the Olympic movement itself – it is all about peace and for the sake of life. Ukraine remains faithful to this. Russia proves the opposite.
Ukrainian skeleton competitor Vladyslav Heraskevych said he had been told by an IOC representative that he was banned from wearing a helmet at the Milano Cortina Games showing images of the country's athletes killed during the war in Ukraine https://t.co/JxT0uiNXyk

Vladyslav Heraskevych wore a helmet with images of people killed in the war.
"Some of them were my friends," said Heraskevych, who was Ukraine's flagbearer in the opening ceremony at the Winter Olympics.
Heraskevych wore the helmet in training hoping that the IOC will also allow it on race day.
Rule 50.2 of the Olympic Charter states: “No kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites, venues or other areas.“
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics Heraskevych held up a 'No War in Ukraine' sign, days before Russia‘s invasion of the country.

Russians hit the sarcophagus of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.
This is a peace signal. Putin simply wants peace. Look, russia is for peace. Peace, isn't it clear?
Another act of terrorism by russians. The photo shows a children's hospital in Kyiv.
Ukraine protects all of Europe. And if Ukraine does not receive the necessary help and permission to strike deep into russia, this evil will come to other European cities.
And then in the USA.
