That's why we have a very particular travel way up north.
It's not a very wealthy area, so about 10 million people per year travel to or from Manaus by boat, and they usually sleep in hammocks.
Manaus to Belém is five days, and the way back takes six days because of the current.
During the summer months in the Arctic Circle, polar bears can be found snoozing among grass and fireweed on patches of land that emerge as sea ice retreats. They enjoy naps and can sleep up to 18 hours a day

The Amazon river is so massive that no bridge crosses it in the whole of Brazil. You would need to travel from the sea to the foothills of the Andes in Peru before finding a bridge to cross it.
