Life moves along without me whether I participate or not. It’s so much better to be vulnerably living life in the moment than to watch it pass by without me from the shadowy edges of regret.
One of the best lessons I’ve learned in my life is that beautiful moments only happen for me when I put myself in them. When I get up early and catch the horses playing as the mist lifts off the land, when I round up the family to walk the whole herd up to the top pasture just for the fun of it, when I ride out an afternoon thunderstorm under a shed roof and wait for that golden storm cloud sunshine to reemerge…when I take time to watch a moment of sweetness between my daughter and an old horse….
