I would say most of them are some combination of

1. American food tastes good
2. Stuff they’ve seen on TV (school buses, diners)
3. Americans are nice
4. American landscapes are beautiful

@connectomancer When a person is going to die they try to find water. Almost all animals search for water when they’re going to die. I almost died & I wanted to drag myself to a pond at the hospital. Someone, long ago, dragged themselves to the water & they made it through as you say.

I also remember when my kids were little, the Free Lutheran church in town held a monthly “Mom’s day out.” The goal was to give stay at home moms a day to run errands, read a book, or just watch the clouds. Drop your kids off once a month, and take a breather. It was about the most pro-family ministry around, as it helped those who were running a marathon.

My favorite part was when I dropped off my kids, one of my sons looked nervous, but there was a train room, filled with grandpas. And they said “hey bud” and he was all of a sudden fine.

It kept me sane for multiple years. Not my local Church—a sister church. But still my church, you know?
