When I ask most people what they do, they reply with their job role. Almost treating it as an identity.

However, when I ask founders, they usually reply with whatever their company’s mission or vision is. Their “purpose”.

Like if you’d ask me, I’d say - “I’m building the world’s first fully automated villa chain” or “I’m building the first hotel on the moon”.

I watched an amazing 51-minute video essay this week by @johnnywharris , "I don't get democracy", that does the most honest thing anyone's done with the word. It opens with a montage of people defining democracy, and nobody agrees. Rule by the people. Freedom. Elections. Rights. Equality. Ask five citizens, get six definitions. That's the first clue. The word means everything, which means it might mean nothing specific at all. I condensed everything from that video and more in this article. Comment if you agree/disagree, would love to debate!
