something i try to make clear in chapter 6 and 7 is how some of the same corporate foundations whose stated purpose were to neutralize Black progressive/revolutionary politics of the 1960s and 70s were also at the scene of the crime in the 2010s/2020. funneling $$$, opportunity, celebrity. manufacturing (pseudo-)leaders & civil rights iconography.

some of the same state ordained parasites, such as Gloria Steinem, who latched themselves onto the struggles and their spokespersons or cultural figures in the 20th century, found themselves also latched onto the struggles and media anointed leaders in the 21st century.

some of the icons—John Lewis, Angela Davis, Jesse Jackson, etc—who miraculously made it out of the tumultuous and deadly latter half of the cold war alive (while many of their comrades were incarcerated or killed) found their names, likeness, and iconography continually deployed as a weapon against contemporary struggles from below!
