Are Audiobooks as Good as Reading?
A professor split his class in two. Half read a textbook chapter, half listened to it. Same material, same quiz, but wildly different results.
The gap between the groups? An A versus a D.
Here’s who won, and why it wasn’t close:
1983 inspired an entire generation to dream big and chase those dreams. 🏏
Today, our Women’s Cricket Team has done something truly special. They have inspired countless young girls across the country to pick up a bat and ball, take the field and believe that they too can lift that trophy one day. 🏆
This is a defining moment in the journey of Indian women’s cricket.
Well done, Team India. You’ve made the whole nation proud. 🇮🇳 💙

An article about my book collection way back in 2012 has got so many hits that it now entered a paywall for reading. https://t.co/wri5GRKtKL #bibliophile#booklovers#library

A hagiography of Nijjar, a man wanted on terrorism and serious criminal charges in India, who first entered Canada under a false name, denied immigration several times, and somehow became a Canadian citizen quotes Gurpatwant Singh Pannu with no mention of the fact that Pannu threatened Hindus that they had to leave Canada. What kind of journalism is this in the country's national newspaper of record? Incredible.
This book is going to be a classic in more Indians leapfrogging out of debt traps linked to over-inflated hard assets, credit card debt, and other “bad financial decisions.” The range of topics discussed are staggering and empowering. Must read book. #FinancialLiteracy#Books
Seth Klarman might have written the best investing book of all time.
Yet, it's less famous than many other books that fill the bestseller lists around the world.
Here are my Notes from Seth Klarman's Margin of Safety:
1. Avoiding loss should be the primary goal of every investor.
2. Investors buy stocks to participate in the success of the underlying company.
Speculators buy stocks to participate in rising share prices.
3. Farsighted investors manage their portfolios with the knowledge that financial catastrophes can and will occur.
4. Investors can profit in three ways.
(1) Free cash flow generated in the business
(2) an increase in the multiple investors are willing to pay
(3) narrowing the gap between fair value and share price.
5. There is comfort in consensus; those in the majority gain confidence from their very number.
6. Collectibles aren't investing. They're speculation.
Prices depend on the vagaries of taste, not value.
7. Successful investors tend to be unemotional, allowing the greed and fear of others to play into their hands.
8. Most investment formulas project the recent past into the future. None have been proven to work.
9. The greatest challenge for investors is to maintain the required discipline.
10. Wall Street doesn't make money with you. They make money off you.
11. There will always be cycles of investment fashion and just as surely investors who are susceptible to them.
But all market fads come to an end.
12. Be absolute-performance-oriented.
Invest only when there are opportunities that meet your standards.
13. Do not establish an investment goal of a specific rate of return.
14. If the prevailing stock price is not warranted by underlying value, it will eventually fall.
15. Rational investors are not influenced by the performance of others. Only by their own result.
16. The cheapest security in an overvalued market may still be overvalued.
17. Investors should never be afraid to reexamine current holdings as new opportunities appear, even if that means realizing losses on the sale of current holdings.
18. Even if the present could somehow be perfectly understood, most investments are dependent on outcomes that cannot be accurately foreseen.
I have compiled a list of five books that'll turn you into a complete investor, here's the article:

As JP Morgan says, sometimes there are decades when nothing happens, and there are days when decades happen. Interesting times these for the financial markets. https://t.co/QTGBCCF2ut

Cryptos were touted as the New Gold. But yday, when war erupted, Cryptos tanked but good old Gold soared. The old Standard is still the Gold Standard. #Gold#Cryptos#GoldVsCryptos
@ViCustomerCare Even after visiting Mehdipatnam br in Hyd on Feb 3submitted my GSTIN the branch is clueless on updating my gst no. Calling customercare on Feb10 for 5 times also useless. On the contrary Airtel updated gst in 2 days. Why have branch when staff know nothing!
#COVIDVaccination cost is not even one or two day's wages of even low income Indians. Lockdown GDP loss for a day would be more than cost of vaccinating. Why should governments negotiate or tender instead of buying what's available immediately & save lives .. @PMOIndia
I am heartbroken by the current situation in India. I’m grateful the U.S. government is mobilizing to help. Microsoft will continue to use its voice, resources, and technology to aid relief efforts, and support the purchase of critical oxygen concentration devices.
