MY HONEST REVIEW ON TML VIBEZ — “DIAMOND OR GOLD” 💎

Some songs are made for the club. Some are made for the road but there are songs that make you think while you are doing both. TML Vibez’s “Diamond or Gold” sits somewhere in the middle.

At first listen, it is simply a good Afrobeat record. The beat moves, the melodies stick, and TML Vibez sounds completely at home on it. You can bop your head to it, play it on a long drive, or let it run in the background. But listen again, and there is more underneath.

“Mo salọ fún àwọn temi, mo japa” - I ran away from my people, I escaped.

That line changes the record for me because it’s something I can relate with so much. It is beyond leaving home. It sounds like a man trying to outrun pressure. Trying to find his own way before life buries him under expectations. And the irony is that while he is trying to find peace, “Family dey worry, aya won ja.” The people he left behind are worried. His freedom has become their fear.

Then comes the prayer: “Ma fi wahala kọ mi l’orun o, gimme dia, gimme gold.” Don’t put trouble on my head. Give me diamond or give me gold.

That is the heart of the song. He is asking life for something better, but he is also asking for peace along the way. There is ambition in the record, but there is also exhaustion. He wants to make it. He just does not want the journey to destroy him 🤲🏼 low-key this man is telling my story too.

And TML Vibez makes that heavy idea sound light. That is the skill. He does not drown the song in emotion. He lets the groove carry the weight.

“Diamond or Gold” is catchy, relatable and quietly reflective. It is the kind of record that gets better when you stop dancing for a moment and actually listen.
