Today, COP29 President-Designate Mukhtar Babayev addressed the Third Advisory Board Meeting of the Santiago Network, which plays a crucial role in averting, minimizing and addressing loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change. It is time to fully operationalize the Santiago Network, so that the Network can engage with requests for technical assistance as soon as possible and meet the urgent and growing needs of those particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. Demonstrating concrete results in the run-up to COP29 will send a strong signal of commitment to those who need assistance.
