@charleshoppes If you haven't found them already, sounds like you'd really like some of @KHayhoe's work. She's not on here as much anymore, but relatively active on Bluesky and other social media.

@wi_statebird Especially in mixed and especially on that exact defensive play. But again, once you hit the highest levels, people are pushing the limit of what we can all safely do. If he doesn't hit your arm but makes the same cut, we'd all say good play, you toed the line well. Tough one.
@wi_statebird Hmmm, I'd say yes, but about as close as can be. Classic blind side D on upline. Parts of the highest level of sport is how much you can safely push yourself in competition. Sometimes you're going to miss that line. We obvs try and teach extreme caution in this case 1/2
@wi_statebird Was the contact that caused you to spin due to contact with the disc while it was in your hand (that bent it) or contact with the disc + your body in some way. If the former, no dangerous play, if the latter, yes dangerous.
For all the shutouts, Fernando Valenzuela’s most impressive performance might have been Game 3 of the 1981 World Series, when he gave up 9 hits and 7 walks as he gutted out a 147-pitch complete game victory. Pure heart. RIP to a legend.
