It’s quite fascinating how many languages have the same roots and it’s easier to learn other languages if the one you’re trying to learn and the one/ones you already know have the same roots :) #ANTH304
In my culture (Japanese), we talk to babies in a way similar to the way Americans do. We talk in high pitch voice, over-simplify language, and ask questions. #ANTH304
It’s odd that I’m some cultures relate some pronunciations or accents with upper class, lower class, ugly, hot, funny etc. depending on time and place. #ANTH304
I recently saw a sign language translator translate the speech of our prime minister, and was able to figure out what the sign meant. A lot of them look like what they actually look like or what it would look like if we were to draw out what the word is expressing! #ANTH304
it’s kind of funny how people use words w/o caring the meanings and roots. Like we have apartments named “Casa ____” in Japan and I didn’t even know what that means until I started studying Spanish. Kind of embarrassing but that’s that and now I know🤷🏻♀️ #ANTH304
I think it’s pretty interesting how memes can implant certain ideas about how things should be especially in people of younger ages because we see the same memes multiple when it appears repeatedly, which I think would be similar to what Sapir-Worf hypotheses is arguing. #ANTH304
