A fading sign & a healthy cactus are what's left of the Saguaro Motel on US 60 in Aguila, AZ, west of Wickenburg. It opened in Feb. 1953 with W. Clyde Gilliland as its manager, according to the Arizona Republic. Mamie Richardson was listed as proprietor of the nearby Aguila Cafe.

@molloy_jesse I've had good meals at Red Raven and good breakfast and pie at Pine Country. I'm a fan of the Pie Hole Porter at Historic Brewery. Never tried the Thai place.

In the 50s, Scottsdale had more than one of these cowboy signs promoting what was billed as "The West's Most Western Town." There is one cowboy still standing at Scottsdale Road and Main Street. And the tagline is often mocked as out-of-date and never true.

After a long hike, celebrating the breathtaking view of Cheyava Falls. It's an intermittent 800-foot waterfall in Grand Canyon that's fed by North Rim snowmelt.

The view is a little hazy from the Perkinsville Road but the trees along the Verde River are bright green on a recent trip through Perkinsville.

High Country Motor Lodge on West Route 66 in Flagstaff. This motor lodge opened last year after a major renovation. It started out as a Holiday Inn in 1964 and operated as a Days Inn for close to 30 years.

Here's a little rock squirrel along the Bright Angel Trail. The National Park Service warns visitors to avoid interacting with these little critters since they commonly bite people at Grand Canyon. It's a bad idea to try to feed any wildlife.

Grand Canyon Railway on the siding at the Grand Canyon depot, one of the nation's oldest log depots. The train runs daily from Williams to the South Rim.

@molloy_jesse It's been Canyon Club since 1949 but the north side of the building was constructed in 1910 & south side in 1932. Jesus Bustillos & Pedro Garcia built south bldg. as El Charro restaurant, according to Society of Architectural Historians...I'm a big fan of Canyon Club too.
