For decades, teachers have spent their own money, and parents have been asked to pitch in, to help purchase materials for classrooms.

Our government is changing that.

Starting this September, every eligible elementary teacher will have direct access to $750 for classroom purchases.

And that’s on top of the classroom supplies funding school boards continue to receive, about $32,000 a year for a typical 500-student elementary school.

The bottom line: we’re putting more resources directly into the hands of teachers, so they have what they need to support students in the classroom.

Replacing a position isn't the same as replacing a person.
