Today, we inspected the progress of various ongoing road projects in Aba. Joined by the Honourable Commissioner for Works, we toured key roads including Port-Harcourt Road, Ekeakpara-NNPC Road Osisioma, Omuma Road, Eziukwu Road, Market Road, Tenant Road, Cameroon Road, Ehi Road, Clifford Road, School Road, and other strategic roads across Asa Road within Aba Metropolis and the city centre.

I am deeply grateful for the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the residents of Aba. Your commitment to our vision of transforming Aba's infrastructure is truly inspiring.

I commend the quality of work done on Port Harcourt Road by Julius Berger and guarantee that the road will soon be ready for commissioning. With multiple ongoing construction and reconstruction projects across the State, Abia will soon take its pride of place among economically advanced States with the right environment for investment and investors.

I urge Aba residents to assist the Government in keeping the city clean and to avoid obstructing the free flow of water in the drains. Your support is crucial in maintaining the progress we have achieved. More glorious days lie ahead as we continue to build a better Abia together.

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of receiving the Board and Management of the South East Development Commission (SEDC). I emphasized the critical importance of investing in power for the economic development of our region. Power is essential for industrialization and the growth of small and medium enterprises. Solving the power issue would address 60% of the challenges faced by our industries.

As part of our commitment to support SMEs and industrialization, we have assisted Geometric Power to come on stream. We are also in discussions with Interstate Electrics Limited to take over their equity in Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC), ensuring power provision to areas not covered by Geometric Power. Geometric possesses the capacity to generate 188 megawatts, with 100 megawatts allocated to meet the demands of the Aba Ring Fence and the remaining capacity designated for the Umuahia Ring Fence.

I commend President Tinubu for approving the commission and the National Assembly for the speedy passage of the South East Development Commission Bill. The commission will provide an enabling environment and support businesses to thrive. Our administration is ready to collaborate with the commission for the development of the State and the entire region.

Special thanks to the Chairman, Dr. Emeka Wogu and the MD/CEO of SEDC, Dr. Mark Okoye, for presenting the commission's roadmap and their readiness to reposition the region and bridge the development gaps caused by years of neglect.
