They offer possible actions.

A handle offers pulling. A surface offers support. A radius offers touch.

7/ This is why physical testing is not a late-stage detail.

It is how weak assumptions become visible before they become expensive.

Designers / engineers: what usually breaks first for you, the form idea or the manufacturing logic?

1/ A believable product idea is not only a good-looking form.

It needs to answer physical questions.

2/ Proportion matters because the object has to meet the body.

Too large, too small, too thin, too vague: the user reads it quickly.

5/ Assembly sense matters because products are not single images.

They are parts, joints, tolerances, fasteners, seams and decisions.

6/ Manufacturing respect matters because production changes the object.

A beautiful CAD model can become mediocre if the process is ignored.

Industrial design is rarely one job.

It sits between research, sketching, CAD, prototyping, surface quality, manufacturing logic, cost, tolerance and presentation.

That is also why it is so often misunderstood.

CAD is where every radius, transition, edge, and section starts leaving evidence.

Perceived quality often appears when the object behaves the way the hand and eye predicted it would.

Bad geometry creates small prediction errors before people can explain why it feels wrong.

Two curves can both be G2.

One feels premium.
The other feels cheap.

The difference is often not continuity itself, but curvature progression stability.

Class-A workflows still rely too much on visual judgment, and too little on practical geometric diagnostics.

Snap-fit is not just an engineering problem.
It is also a perception problem.
Material behavior changes how people judge quality.

Most products feel cheap before manufacturing even begins.
Not because of material quality.
Not because of price.
Because the geometry already breaks the brain’s expectation of physical coherence.
Industrial design is not decoration.
It is predictive engineering for perception.

The sound. The resistance. The final “click.”
