Non au boycott d'Israël au concours de l'Eurovision.

Jamais la France ne s’engagera dans la voie du boycott d’un peuple, de ses artistes ou de ses intellectuels. Tout s’y oppose dans l'âme et la tradition de notre pays, celle de l’humanisme des Lumières : par la culture, chacun apprend à comprendre l’autre et se retrouve dans ce qu’il y a de plus universel en lui, son humanité. Y a t il meilleur moyen de cultiver la paix ?

Je me réjouis que l'Eurovision n’ait pas cédé aux pressions, et que la France ait contribué à empêcher un boycott d’Israël dans cette enceinte. Je regrette profondément que plusieurs chaînes de télévision européennes aient fait un autre choix.

J'appelle au refus catégorique de l’obscurantisme promu par les tenants du boycott dans les salles de spectacles comme dans les universités. Faudrait-il, par opposition à la politique d’un gouvernement, pousser la bêtise jusqu’à interdire les romans de David Grossman, les films d’Amos Gitaï, les concerts d’Avishai Cohen et de Daniel Barenboïm ?

Assumons sans fard les différends politiques et les désaccords gouvernementaux, si profonds soient ils. Mais laissons la poésie, le cinéma et la musique rapprocher les êtres. Ne laissons pas la brutalisation du monde s'emparer des consciences et dresser les peuples les uns contre les autres. Opposons lui les armes de l'esprit.
