Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe Speaks on State Police
Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, representing Abia South, has raised strong concerns over the proposed State Police Bill during debate in the Nigerian Senate, warning that governors could misuse and destroy the system just as they allegedly did with local government funds.
While contributing to the constitutional amendment bill for the establishment of state policing, the lawmaker insisted that funds for the state police commission must be constitutionally guaranteed and paid directly to an independent commission, not routed through state governments, to prevent diversion and ensure accountability.
He highlighted the risk of unchecked checkpoints and extortion in regions like the Southeast if officers are left to “fend for themselves” due to poor funding, urging the Senate to put robust safeguards in place before proceeding with the reform.

Everyday I wake up, I feel relaxed knowing fully well that the Eastern Security Network (#ESN) is still in the hands of some of the most powerful members of the DOS
So whenever people talk down on #IPOB, I’ll just laugh cus IPOB has sworn to liberate #IGBOs out of Nigeria

Remanding lawyer Aloy Ejimakor and Prince Emmanuel Kanu in Kuje Prison just for participating in a peaceful assembly marks a further and chilling escalation of Nigerian government’s relentless efforts to undermine freedom of assembly. What President Bola Tinubu’s government is subjecting Aloy Ejimakor and Prince Emmanuel Kanu to comes in the context of a much wider crackdown on civic space. This travesty of justice must stop.
The Abduction of Sunday Ifedi and Calista Ifedi by DSS
Sunday Ifedi and Calista Ifedi, a couple from Ezeagu community in Ezeagu LGA of Enugu state, were taken from their home in Enugu on 23 November 2021 by state security agents. For over four years now, their whereabouts have remained unknown.
According to their 21-year-old daughter, the couple were taken by DSS officials to answer certain questions. They never returned. They were abducted because the DSS wanted to question them over alleged IPOB membership. She narrated the harrowing experience of the disappearance of her parents to Amnesty International in Enugu:
“My father, Sunday Ifedi, is a furniture maker while my Mum, Calista Ifedi, is a teacher. They have three children. I am 21 years. The second one is 19, while the last one is 17. There is also our cousin who was living with us because her father is late. The DSS took my parents. We do not know where they are. I have not even heard from them. The last information I got is that my parents were taken to Abuja.
“When we got there, the DSS said we could not enter. Since my parents’ abduction, things have been exceedingly difficult for us. I had to drop out of school to engage in menial jobs so I can take care of my younger ones. I suddenly became both a mother and father. The government should please release my parents” [sobbing profusely].

BREAKING:
Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has declared Monday a day of voluntary fasting and prayer across the state, urging residents to unite in a collective spiritual appeal for peace and security.
~~~~~~~~~~~<<
Me-: If the government chooses to designate Monday in Borno state as a voluntary Day for fasting and prayer due to insecurity, it’s essential for the remaining Igbos in Maiduguri to find their way back, as the distance from Borno to the east is considerable, and they should avoid getting trapped in the midst of these jihadist attacks
Ọhaneze And The 30th May Biafra Heroes Day Celebration
You can't wake up and change the name of something you never started or even celebrated. Biafra Heroes Day is a symbolic celebration for Biafra. It isn't Igbo day. If Ohanaeze ndị Igbo wants to institute an Igbo day, we are not against it. They should bring up a day, and we all will accept it and mark it.
May 30th is not only about the Igbo people. It incorporates other tribes like the Philip Effiongs, Efik, and Ibibio people. It includes those Biafra soldiers from Urohbo, Ijaw, Ogoni, etc who paid with their blood fïghting for that w@r of survival. It was a time when the world came against the Biafrans. We won't let a group of retired Nigerian politicians being sponsored by current politicians to downplay it.
You guys have tried to distance yourselves from the 30th May celebration and couldn't. Now you want to downplay the celebration, delete the name Biafra from it and bring Igbo into it, thinking you guys are smart. But in this, you all will also be shamed.
Our fathers did not fight like the Igbo people. They fought as Biafrans, and we will keep their memories alive through 30th May. If we let Ọhaneze play us, it means our children will no longer understand the essence of that celebration. It kị́lls the true purpose and deletes the Biafran memories out of our minds. Since these very leaders stopped the teaching of History in our schools, we hold onto the celebrations like the 30th May to look back into our past, but these rotten elders also want to kị́ll it. And we won't let it.
Come 30th May, we won't celebrate voluntarily. We will celebrate like people under oath and under the law. We will celebrate as if we don't do that, it becomes our end. We will wave Biafra flags both spiritually and physically. We will meditate on the sufferings and pains of the Biafrans who fought without enough guns, clothes and boots. We will remember the more than 2 million Biafran children who suffered kwashiokor and died miserably while the world looked on and called us rebels. We will remember how Nigeria in total disregard to rules of engagement, b0mbed churches, markets, farm lands and refugee camps. We bleed as Biafrans and died as Biafrans. We will recognise we are Igbo and another is Efik fighting for the survival of Biafra. We won't let Ọhaneze to fọ́ọ́l us into losing the essence of the 30th May celebrations.
May 30th will remain the Biafra Heroes Day. Ọhaneze will once again be shamed, and one day the real Ọhaneze will emerge, not the ones appointed by the people appointed by Fulani Oligarchs.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Court Update, 08-05-2025
The Witness PW2-BBB has ended his latest testimony. However, the defense has proposed to go into full cross examination of witness on Wednesday, while they gather information on whether or not, those who were killed were as a result of the MNK broadcast or other causes.
Although, the prosecution team insists on accelerated hearing and cross examination of the witness today, the defense team wants the cross examination to happen on Wednesday so they can gather info and be well prepared.
The presiding judge also is of the opinion that accelerated hearing be enforced.
However, Agabi SAN points out the need for info gathering before cross examination of the witness, hence tomorrow, Friday will not be ideal.
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu's Court Update, 08-05-2025
Witness Reading A.GFs Letter To Court Hearing And Subsequent Statement: (Witness PW2-BBB reading the letter)
PROSECUTION: Mr Kanu, Do you have any statement to make with regards to the content of the recently read letter? MNK: I do not wish to make any statement on the letter from the office of AGF.
Judge: If your name is not on the list and you are in court, get out right away or else you’d be charged with contempt.
Witness (continues his testimony): Apart from taking videos and writing against the defendant. I have worked in investigating IPOB,MNK and ESN. MNK founded Radio Biafra, ESN, and others. We discovered that the Lagos High Court, the Ilasamaja Police Station, and the Murtala Mohammed Airport had all been burnt down, particularly in 2020. He not only called for the killing of police officers, but he also advocated for sit-at-home and instructed his followers to strictly enforce it. Even as Gulak was killed, Kanu questioned why he went out knowing that there would be sitting at home on May 30th.
Witness goes on to name states classified as part of the Biafra region proposed by Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
