Mersin Devlet Opera ve Balesi’nin iki değerli sanatçısı Övül ve Mahmut Akyol’un biricik kızları, ülkemizin geleceği en parlak keman sanatçılarından biri olan, Mersin’imizin evladı Laçin Akyol’u gencecik yaşta elim bir trafik kazasında kaybetmenin üzüntüsünü yaşıyoruz.
Laçin kızımıza Allah’tan rahmet, ailesi ve yakınlarına başsağlığı diliyorum.
The brave man who took this iconic photo, one of the first 3 humans to ever leave Earth orbit and travel to the Moon, died yesterday. Bill Anders, I salute you.
It was so much fun to get @DavidBowieReal's permission, record my weightless voice, guitar & video, add @emmgryner's piano & @extrakilometre's instrumentals, and hand it all to @Evan_Hadfield & @Tidby's video editing.
Efes Antik Kenti günümüzden yaklaşık 2 bin yıl önce, henüz terkedilmemiş ve yaşanabilir bir kentken nasıl gözüküyordu sorusuna dair oluşturulmuş harika rekonstrüksiyon görselleri.
Remembering the great Wes Montgomery who was born on this day in 1923. Known for his unusual technique of plucking the strings with the side of his thumb, and for his extensive use of octaves, which gave him a distinctive sound, Montgomery was probably the most influential improviser on his instrument.
Instead of using a plectrum or fingers, he played guitar with the soft part of his thumb, resulting in a soft attack especially appropriate to his lyrical lines. He organized his solos by playing single-note melodies in initial choruses, in octaves in middle choruses, and in chords in climactic choruses.
He developed this thumb technique not for technical reasons but for the benefit of his neighbors and not waking his children. He wanted to still play through am amplifier so he developed his thumb picking style. He worked long hours as a machinist before his music career began and practiced late at night. To keep everyone happy, he played quietly by using his thumb.
Here, he is performing “Here’s That Rainy Day” with Stan Tracey on piano, Rick Laird on bass and Jackie Dougan on drums live in London, 1965.

One of the most intense meteor showers in recorded history took place 190 years ago today.
During the Leonids meteor shower of 1833, 100,00 meteors streaked across the sky every hour. Many thought the world was ending, which inspired this famous woodcut by Adolf Vollmy.
