@chriswithans the bottleneck isn't late arriving mail in ballots, it's ballots dropped off at ballot boxes, which cannot be touched until after election day for rather obvious security reasons. mail-in and in person votes get processed as they come in but these can't be

most of the "mail-in" votes are ballot drop-box votes and those can't be touched until after the election which is the actual bottleneck

@gaganbiyani it's because of how californians vote, nearly 50% of voters use ballot drop boxes which can't be opened until after the election to maintain a chain of custody. in comparison to that volume late mail in votes are a rounding error
