To clarify, I was the first gen that had shooting drills since kindergarten. I remember being 5 and practicing. I’ve been out of school for almost 5 years and still remember every step to a shooter lockdown. There’s a reason so many people my age suffer from anxiety.

My mom was a teacher for 40 yrs. I remember going to work with her one day and one of the first things she told me was where we would all hide if there was a shooting. She knew where to hide in each room. It’s been 11 years and teachers still have to think about this shit.

Teachers shouldn’t walk into classrooms and immediately think of how they will protect their elementary aged students. I was the first gen of shooter drills (I’m 22). Kids shouldn’t have to prepare to hide and not die. Kids shouldn’t die. It’s been over 20 yrs since it started
