So the news today is that both the Alberta separatists and the Quebec separatists have been holding (or seeking) meetings with the Trump administration — colluding with a foreign power in the service of its ambition to break up the country and absorb it piece by piece. For how long are we going to continue to treat this as a legitimate political “option”?

I have to admit surprise at the carefully constructed campaign to stop Canada developing stronger relations with Europe. Not that I am surprised by the existence of such a campaign. But so crude? So transparently dishonest?

“I have a message for American friends. Yes, Canada is a generous, open country and Canadians are tolerant and kind. But never mistake our generosity for weakness. Never mistake our tolerance for lack of determination. And never, never mistake our kindness for softness."
— Former PM Jean Chrétien, speaking at 9/11 commemoration ceremony in Gander, N.L.
The amount of Patriot interceptor missiles the US are using to counter Iranian attacks is mind-boggling. Between 60 and 100 missiles, possibly even more, fired in a matter of minutes, the majority being PAC-3 MSE interceptors.
It is obvious that Iran is deliberately exhausting US stockpiles using rather cheap missiles. The political backlash in the US is already huge, and any further uncoordinated escalation is primarily hurting the US and the West altogether.
The Iranian regime has also nothing seriously to fear from the Trump administration, because of the wasted time in the beginning of the year. Only a full-scale invasion would change their calculus, but of course, there is virtually a zero chance that this is going to happen. Hence, they are feeling emboldened.
The White House is even not capable to grasp or admit that Tehran is clearly coordinating with Russia. The coordination is certainly going beyond providing target coordinates of US troops. Not to mention the surging oil price which helps them both.
The only good news is that Ukraine is depleting Russia, and by extension Iran. But Washington is clearly squandering that momentum.
Without any serious grand strategy by the US administration, which would also consider the inclusion of allies and partners, this whole war is a blunder of epic proportions. It is only the latest example how important a clear strategy, solid alliances and trust are.
Hunter S. Thompson refused to come to the studio.
The only way Conan could get him on the show was to meet him on a farm in upstate New York. To shoot guns. And drink hard liquor.
They set up a full bar in a field. A bartender in a tuxedo handed Hunter a shotgun he’d never fired. Then an M60. They blew apart stuffed animals and a Bill Buckner target while Conan tried to look like this was a normal interview.
Hunter howled. Conan looked like he might not make it home.
This is still the least talk-show interview ever done on a talk show.
Genius making Conan come to him, or just the most dangerous booking in late-night history?

Macron leaves in 2027. Le Pen and Melenchon may lead France’s race. Both are bad for Ukraine.
Raphael Glucksmann is the strongest pro-Ukraine candidate. He backs Taurus, strikes on Russian military targets, €210B in frozen Russian assets for Ukraine, and EU entry, Babel.

Honey. Hey honey.
We have 15,430 beekeepers in Canada. We export about $60 million of honey a year, $40 million of that to the USA. That honey now has a 50% tariff and our farmers are going to have a tough time selling it.
Canada imports a lot of honey, about $73 million of it. Some of it isn’t even real honey (seriously it’s faked with rice and cane syrups eww).
Check the labels. As a country we are spending $73 million on imported honey and looking at loosing $40 million in exported honey to the USA. It’s kinda simple math. Buy Canadian honey.
Little things from many people will make a difference.
Chapman's Ice Cream has just done something EVERY Canadian should know.
The largest ice cream company in Canada used to source fruit and nuts from American suppliers — for some, for over 30 years. Then, Trump imposed a 25% tariff on Canadian products.
So, what did Chapman's do?
📷 They called Italy.
📷 They called Spain.
📷 They signed multi-year contracts with European suppliers.
And the vice president said it perfectly:
"Even if Trump wakes up smarter than yesterday, we're about to sign long-term deals with other countries — and the American companies that supply them will have nothing but their eyes to cry for."
Oh, and on top of ALL that? They're COLDing their prices so that the average Canadian doesn't have to spend a single cent more.
It's a family business. No shareholders. Just the Chapman family saying: "The least we can do is make sure Canadians still have the means to buy ice cream."
That's what Canadian pride looks like.
Next time you're at the grocery store — grab some Chapman's.
Every scoop of ice cream is a vote for Canada.
