One area of crypto mkt structure that seems very opaque and weird to me still is market maker <> token issuer / foundation relationships. I would guess this is responsible for a lot more issues than it gets credit for.
Feels like in the last year there have been several "our market maker fucked us" stories that just disappear and nobody ever knows what actually happened.
About a month ago, some token crashed like 90% and then the founder wrote some long thread saying "wintermute did it to us" and then nothing happened.
Am surprised there is no solution for this yet: maybe founders should have to publish/disclose the terms of their MM deals, CEXs can formalise some standards which bar listings, or maybe there is some other solution that ppl smarter than me can invent.
I guess you want (1) token buyers have info symmetry on the incentive structure of the MM deal and (2) founders dont keep getting scammed by dodgy MMs or nonstandard agreements.
Pic related.
I’m alarmed by reports that the U.S. has sold off over 80% of its Bitcoin reserves—leaving just ~29,000 coins.
If true, this is a total strategic blunder and sets the United States back years in the bitcoin race.
This is honestly the best break down of " REAL" users in crypto. I think it's bullish. most people will see this and think its bad, but it's cool, there's only around 15k real people in crypto, if your on-chain-crypto-business/token/thing servers just 1% boom, 5 million.
That's only around 150 people.
So when chains tell you they have 2 MILLION "Daily Active Users" . You know they are lying or its fake.
There are only around 15k-20k movers and shakers in crypto that matter. Just target them.
Huge congrats to the Phantom team on their perps launch! We're honored that they chose Hyperliquid as their infrastructure, tapping into the best onchain liquidity with permissionless monetization via builder codes.
By building on Hyperliquid, the Phantom team can focus on their world-class user experience, trusting that the liquidity infrastructure of Hyperliquid will give their users world-class execution. Innovative user interfaces are a huge milestone in bringing finance onchain. I'm excited to see Phantom and Hyperliquid scale and grow together!
So @HyperliquidX got
-USDT integration for Free
-Etherscan integration for Free
-Phantom integration for Free
Not a single dollar has been paid to any person/institution/KOL
Yet people are shilling it for free and major players in the ecosystem are integrating and building on Hyperliquid without any deals of any kind.
There is a lesson in that, i can’t imagine how Jeff and co must be feeling right now, its a moment of pride to be able to crack the code to building a once in a decade juggernaut of a business and share it with thousands for free.
I mean they could have kept to themselves and gone the IPO/Equities route or the Pump Fun max extractor route, but no they chose people over profits and thats why every single person wants to give back from builders to content creators in any shape or form.
Im glad i found Hyperliquid early and I’m even more excited for the future.
Seriously after all of this if you are not convinced that $HYPE is a net positive for the industry and are basically achieving what many of us dreamt about for years in the space then i don’t know what you’re really doing here with your time, you owe it to yourself to be a part of this.
The first project since literally Bitcoin that actually values people and community over profits.
