One of the largest funerals in Palestinian history took place yesterday in Gaza City, where the remains of 112 members of the Abu Shariah and Hassayna families were finally laid to rest, nearly three years after they were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Sabra neighbourhood.
The attack killed 308 people, including women, children and people with disabilities. Many bodies could not be recovered at the time due to fuel shortages, limited equipment and the scale of the destruction.
Following years of recovery efforts, 112 victims were identified and buried with dignity. Nearly 200 more victims of the same massacre remain missing, while thousands across Gaza are still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble.
If I'm ever worried about whether my Dua will be accepted or not, I always think back to what Umar (RA) said: "I make dua & I don't stress over how it will come to be, for if Allah has guided me to make dua, then surely the answer will come with it"
