Just a short (50 minutes long c.c) video showcasing what was changed today in Angel Sword Adventurer Creator by @Leaflit and pals. I'll finish testing and packaging this tomorrow or Saturday most likely, then open up a fork of the main repository so everyone can play with the changes.
The video is a bit slow as it's not edited and it's a bit technical. It is what it is, lol.
Highlights include fixing FireFox (and Safari for that matter) support, swapping to ffmpeg for WebM encoding, and making build scripts for x86-64 and arm64 variants on Windows, Linux, and MacOS so they can be run essentially out the box, at a few clicks.
The original code release, FYI: https://t.co/ZBfyLhb7ZT
As I promised:
If you're interested the open source for Angel's Sword Adventurer Creator/Overlay is here.
Also I don't know how to code so don't ask me about any of it, I can't really answer LOL

Heh, a final adjustment for the day: Added arm64 support for Windows, Linux, and MacOS build exports. Surfaces, Raspberry Pis, and Apple Silicon should be a go with ffmpeg with this. Testing required, as always.
AS Adventurer Creator (by @Leaflit) rebuild update:
Fixed the WebM encoding on FireFox. FF lacked the ability to capture transparency in the browser using the BrowserCapture method implemented. You could leave the key in place and do the chroma ops in OBS, but that's taxing in realtime. I picked a more universal solution: the browser sends PNG blob data to the local server and ffmpeg then performs the encode. I'm working on caching batches of PNGs on the server to avoid memory issues making one large batch, but the process does work flawlessly on all browsers now.
Alongside this, in working to make the runtime ffmpeg static in the release files, I made a dedicated release build option for Linux and one for MacOS. I need to load up some VMs and try them out but it should be just as one-click there as it is running the BAT file on Windows.
More on this pet project to come. I'm doing this on breaks and between meetings, so might take a sec to clean things up.
Yet more neat stuff for Angel Sword Adventurer Creator.
Added a loading spinner for the video parsing, so the user knows what the hell is going on and why they can't use any of the controls yet.
Fixed the video playback in the Prep tab to use the detected framerate, as it previously used the frame *caching* rate (slower). This is an artefact of the old framerate detection system, and now explicitly updates the play rate upon completing the caching.
Also playing around with the GIF exporter options to validate issues in real-time for the user. I added a toggle to halve the resolution easily when over the limit. Similarly, frame skip now has a toggle (on by default) to adjust the framerate to match, so the total runtime and playback speed of the output remain the same as before frame skipping. Helper text galore, though I need to figure out what works and clean up the extra/duplicate helpers.
@The__Goomba It sort of is for a PC, though. It's rare to find plug-and-play general purpose computers like that.
The better way of phrasing it might be 'All the power of a PC, all the simplicity of a console.'
@AimbotAimy Comes with the fanatical following territory, I suppose. I prefer nuance, but the masses do not. Level heads and observation prevail in reality, usually, but inversely hinder in the social debate stage.
Don't be afraid to form a deeper opinion just because of popularity.
@Leaflit All my base always appreciate being directed to make their time.
You suddenly have me searching for a Flash video to play on loop for a while...
@Vael_the_Pal Yeah, chroma keying can be a voodoo science sometimes. Every now and then you have to choose a compromise (like not wearing green, lol).
I believe in youuuuuu.
After digging deeper into the code, the canvas capture method being used to render the webp files does not properly support capturing alpha transparency in FireFox.
I'm working on converting the encoding process to send PNG blobs (universally supports transparency capture) to the local server so ffmpeg can do the encoding. Bonus is it becomes platform and browser agnostic that way.
FireFox support means a lot to me, so I'm working on it. ;3
I've already swapped out the direct Javascript DOM manipulation implementation with a more modernized Angular.JS reactive framework. That opened up pathways for better cross-browser code as well. For instance, I already found a solution to the onion peel using the wrong frame of the video in FireFox.
I broke a few things in the process that need refactoring for the new design, but that's all fixed in due time. When it's at a stable state that replicates the existing features properly, I'll make a fork or something for comparison. Lots of changes to review for the commit notes, haha.
Yeah, I noticed the remote AI resources are passed through the app's internal router, which may cause interference if the redirects point back to a virtual endpoint like a VPN. I'm thinking of forking the app and converting it to use different standards (a reactive Angular app, for instance!) and that router choice caught my eye. Might look at options to improve that part in the process.
I think the community is going to fix up this alpha built properly fast. :3
Angel Sword Adventurer basic test run! @Leaflit seems to have a good start going here, something to be proud of if she isn't a normal app developer.
Nothing too special on my end here, but I wanted to share a bit after playing with this over my lunch break. It's easy to use, quick if you know your stuff (and rather fast to use if learning), and surprisingly not too buggy.
PS: I posted some debugging notes in the comments of the release announcement post: https://t.co/qsxkEkMBfq
NEW BUDGET VTUBER SYSTEM
AS Adventurer is now out in alpha test.
There may be some bugs, but just let me know—
or @SimoneHCollins if its on the Rfab side.
Please tag me on your model creations I want to see it!

I tried Waterfox (more secure Firefox) to test for issues as it was mentioned as not fully compatible. There are indeed issues, and not that the code is release I think I spotted athe underlying issues.
I finished things in Brave as Chromium browsers were the recommendation. That was pretty flawless.
@JohnnyUktena@Leaflit Work in visual effects enough and you'll hear someone call them 'pungs'. It's like the softer form of the GIF debate, hehe. Nobody knows what to call a PNG.
