NYRB Classics has a charming selection, but can we talk more about their crime fiction/noir? Four of my favorites so far. Gritty, rhythmic, at times wittyโbadly need more stories in this vein.
For one of my booksandlala monthly challenge Iโll be reading the final book in the Amberlough Dossier trilogy one of my fave queer political fantasy inspired by 20s/30s Europe (art deco, cabarets, spies, smugglers, revolutionaries, fascistic govs and Weimar Republic)
holy crap this is easily the best Tony Award speech of the entire night. hell yes to all of this
"This is dedicated to the beautiful tapestry of immigrant families who make this country really special. May you one day not have to audition for the empathy that should be freely given by this country that benefits from your beauty. To the queer and trans communities that always will exist, no matter what people in power try to take away from them. To the people of Palestine who deserve to live a free life โ a full life โ without occupation. ... If there's one thing we can learn from vampires, it's that life is short, but that's its gift. Find beauty in the ephemeral and gratitude in what is not promised."

My current read for one of my Goodreads challenge is Long Bright River by Liz Moore, I loved The God of the Woods so I chose this, Iโm liking it so far ! Once again it has gorgeous writing and itโs a very atmospheric and character centric slow burn plot

this was such a interesting interview of Bethany Jacobs for her book These Burning Stars, loved the little anecdotes on Chono's arc being inspired by her own story as a queer apostate and the Jevenis accents being loosely inspired by the Vikings tv show https://t.co/mN4TOnPJW0
