We have exciting news we want to share- and a free resource- in the world of playful inquiry! The https://t.co/Ss3NbpU0S3 site is now a free professional development site for educators! Thanks to the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation!
๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐: ๐๐๐๐โ๐๐๐๐! Opal School & @PortlandCM are permanently closed. This feed will serve as a tribute to Opal's vibrant 20-year legacy. Thanks to our community of students, educators & caregivers for two decades of Playful Inquiry!
Opal School has served more than 500 students & 10,000 educators, who in turn have reached one million children locally & globally.
We are forever grateful to the vibrant playful learning community that continues to surround the organization.
1/3: After decades of serving families & educators, the board has voted to close @PortlandCM & Opal School. On what marks the Museumโs 75th anniversary & Opal's 20th anniversary, this was a heartbreaking decision.
3/3: We know from @childmuseums that most childrenโs museums are facing substantial losses. Public support from the CARES Act & other sources has not been enough to overcome obstacles.
"We all have this chance...to muck about & do our best to figure out what we will hold onto & what we need to let go of. To learn some real things about learning that we wouldnโt otherwise...And that feels exciting & hopeful." New blog post from Kerry!

When it hit a year ago, we knew that the pandemic would be a portal, but we didn't know where it would take us. Now, we are launching a new project to build from the work we began at Opal School. Join our mailing list! https://t.co/wdYVWRf6AZ @matt_karlsen @sharrismackay

@zinnfi "Summer break" seems inconceivable in dark and rainy Portland, Fiona! We'd love to have you and yours with us - if there is some way to make it work for you, let us know!
The moves that we make through conflict and uncertainty are what lead us to the greatest beauty, the deepest learning, our crowning achievements. School can be a place where we practice living it together.
