3/3: The Museum has been a haven for joyful memory-making with loved ones for generations. We are forever grateful to the vibrant community of play that Museum & Opal programs have cultivated over the last 75 years.
1/3: After 75 years of serving children & their caregivers, our board voted today to close Portland Children’s Museum & @opalschool. We considered a number of options, but the impact of the pandemic & subsequent closure caused devastating & unrecoverable revenue losses.
2/3: Sadly, we are not alone in facing this unprecedented operational distress. We know from @childmuseums that most children’s museums are facing substantial losses. Public support from the CARES Act & other sources hasn’t been enough to make the losses up.
