this is obviously incorrect, and i chose to do literature over music because literature is self-evidently a lower form of art. needed to make things harder on myself.
@xtebordo Teaching makes it almost impossible to read for pleasure! There’s also the related Barthelme jingle: ‘the problem with teaching is that you’re always working on somebody else’s crummy manuscript when you should be working on your own crummy manuscript.’
