The reason government programs are so inefficient is that, unlike a commercial company, the feedback loop for improvement is broken, because they have a state-mandated monopoly and can’t go out of business if customers are unhappy.

No matter how bad the service is at your DMV (sorry to pick on DMVs), you still have to use your DMV, because it’s a monopoly.

Many people (including at the Town Halls) want to know where Elon stands today on Christianity. Here's his response at the Town Hall on Oct 26 in Lancaster.

Elon: I was brought up Christian and went to Sunday School, and also went to a Hebrew Pre-School. I'm not Jewish, but I think I was living in the neighborhood or something. So I was doing "Hava Nagila" one day and "Jesus is Our Lord" the next! Great!

Elon: I believe in the teachings of Christ. I believe in Christian principles: "Love thy neighbor" and "Turn the other cheek," which is very important for forgiveness.

Because if you don't have forgiveness, then you have an endless cycle of retribution. I used to think, "Why would you turn the other cheek? That's ridiculous! You know, sponge 'em!" Haha.

BE STRONG

Elon: But I've come to realize that you do need to be strong.

You can't be weak because if you're facing a predatory threat, and that threat is stronger than you and doesn't believe in those values, you'll just get executed.

But once you are strong, you should forgive the transgressions of others.

This is obviously not something they believe in the Middle East, which is why there is an endless cycle of violence.

Elon: So, I really do think that we should love thy neighbor and be kind in general. I believe in what Jesus said.

My 2 cents:
Being strong sometimes means, to me, being tough on the criminal while having deep compassionate empathy for the victim. I think too often there is a tendency misunderstand forgiveness. Punishment for crimes should be the norm, while forgiveness can still happen, it does not mean you can be taken full advantage of. I like the words by @GadSaad on this topic.
