Everyone needs to know what actually happened in Serbia.
Instead of students just protest against their government, the students organized themselves into a student list and ran in elections against their government—and they have just won.
Dear Serbia, congratulations on your victory; you have just opened a new door in protesting. This is history
I lost my job last month.
After 5+ years of working as a software engineer, I honestly didn't expect it to hit me this hard.
I was the first engineer at my last startup. I owned features end to end, built workflows and integrations, and helped make the product more scalable.
Then, one day, I was told the company was restructuring.
Honestly, it felt unfair. I had put so much of myself into building the product, and suddenly, I was out.
It made me realise something: you can give a company your best years, but you still can't control what happens next.
But here's what's interesting.
The last 4 weeks have also been some of the most productive weeks I've had in a long time.
→ I started being more active on X and connected with some amazing people.
→ I started sharing what I learn instead of keeping everything to myself.
→ I got 4–5 interview opportunities.
→ I faced rejections, couldn't clear some second rounds, and got ghosted after screening calls.
And yes, some days have been frustrating.
But I've also been learning every single day.
I'm solving DSA problems, studying distributed systems, preparing for system design interviews, and building projects to sharpen my skills.
I'm nowhere near perfect. There are still so many things I need to improve.
But I'm making progress, and that's what matters.
One thing this experience has taught me is that life rarely goes according to plan.
Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose. Sometimes you do everything right and things still don't work out.
You can't control every outcome, but you can control what you do next.
So, if you're going through a difficult phase in your career right now, keep going.
Keep learning. Keep building. Keep putting yourself out there.
You never know which opportunity, connection, or project will change things for you.
I'm still figuring things out myself, but I'm excited about what's next.
Here's to the next chapter. 🥂
