I think there’s a lot of people who don’t know how strong the underground soccer movement has gotten in the last couple years which are basically unaffiliated teams outside of sanction leads that playing in tournaments where the money is probably even better than the sanctioned leagues. I think what OSA has the potential of doing is unifying that to an actualsoccer pyramid that is sanctioned. NISA did not do that and really didn’t try very hard to do I it.
The leadership of this venture is steeped in long-term involvement in the game. The concept is roughly the same as NISA’s original idea, this has a clear format and build-out plan while also going after unaffiliated clubs with prize money which is huge in some parts of the country.
I’m upbeat about @open_soccer_ after great conversations today.
The vision aligns with what so many of us want from the sport in this country and can be critical in tying unaffiliated teams to the mainstream sanctioned soccer system.
Creating a true competitive open setup.
