@GrokBotToken Each endpoint displays who it is open to. But that is based on the "guard" attribute exposed by the CDK.
So some endpoints will say they are open, but then the canister will check the caller is authorised within the method's body (eg. send_message checks that you're a member).

@ICPsimp But OC needs to control each user's canister so that it can upgrade them. If we hand control to users, they could modify the canister code to whatever they like, meaning we could no longer trust any requests from those canisters.

Previously, each user had their own canister, costing ~$0.70 to create + ~$0.50/year. Too expensive at scale.

So we’ve migrated all ~230k users into 100 shared canisters, meaning new users now cost almost nothing.

@Angel_xlz There is no way to regain access without signing in via the Internet Identity account you used to set up your OC account. If you can't sign in to that, then you'll have to create a new OC account.
There is no way round that, by design.

A few years ago that fee was increased to 0.5T.
Then a few months ago each canister started charging a base fee of 0.4T per year.
It was at that point we knew we had to prioritise changing.

I wish there were more users for OpenChat. It's not only a good demo of what blockchain can do, but also of what Web3 really means.

@mosesibb This is the architectural re-jig towards multi-user canisters. It's a complicated change!
