The NRA was always worth fighting to reclaim from Wayne and save from the NY AG. It’s _our_ organization, the oldest civil rights org in the nation, and we need to defend it from the thieves, grifters, and totalitarians. People that were saying it needed to die or that we could afford to lose it did not understand the value of the brand, the importance to our heritage, and the political weight of the NRA. As you said, those things are exactly what our opponents wanted to destroy.
@unclebobmartin@TrisH0x2A Then in ‘98 & ‘99 time was so precious we windowed two digit years out to 2042 or so, assuming someone will surely replace the software with a more permanent fix by then. God only knows how much of that is still in production and if anyone is managing those windowing deadlines.
So no GitHub copilot support, ever? Maybe an add in for Visual Studio 26? All the automation and robust features in VS make using glorified text editors (e.g. VSC) feel like going a long way back in time. Trying to even approach the same experience with extensions in VSC makes for a very unstable and brittle toolset, IME. I’ve only used Cursor a bit in the past - happy to try again, but would expect the same fundamental problem.
Need a break from the noise? Try this new Springfield trapdoor recognition quiz I made; it’s pretty fun - there’s a short version and a long one. Can you distinguish a ‘73 from a ‘77? Good luck!

I worry about them poisoning the well, intentionally. Loading it up with too may requirements at once to be feasible to pass. Have seen this with state legislation - reluctant congress critters don’t truly want a voter-demanded bill to pass, so they load up the bill with things they know will go too far to get any fence sitters over the line. They can posture as if they voted for it, but well darn, maybe next time. Hope that’s not the dynamic at play here.
This, despite record gun quantities in circulation (~ .5 billion).
Just wait for the inevitable NYT headline - "FBI still arresting historic numbers despite record-low violent crime rates". 🤡
Axios just reported the lowest murder rate since 1900, down 20% from 2024, and somehow forgot to mention President Trump or the historic results of this FBI.
Nearly 200% more arrests. Violent gangs crushed. Fugitives hunted down.
Media gymnastics can’t hide the reality that this administration brought law and order back, and Americans are safer because of it.
TIL: the idiom, "stiff upper lip" originated in America in the early 1800's. Like most, I errantly associate its origin with the British. Fittingly, the first printed use in America concerns doleful regulatory compliance.
@Grokipedia gets this right, Wiki whiffs it badly.
Sad to hear.. I had the privilege of meeting Phil a couple times at the NRA museum in Fairfax. He was very open, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Here’s one more voice to sing his praises.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of NRA Museums Director E. Philip "Phil" Schreier III — a titan and trusted voice for firearms history.
Schreier's storytelling brought the American experience to life for millions. He will be greatly missed, and his legacy will endure.
@elonmusk Will there be Sarbanes-Oxley-type legislation regulating general controls for the federal and state budgets? Reports on material weaknesses and KYC that influence their ability to sell bonds??
Spent some time in Arizona after Christmas. Wife and I had a great time seeing the geology around Sedona, visiting Fort Verde, Montezuma’s Castle, and doing some horseback riding. The sun and warmth were appreciated, too. More photos from Fort Verde in a subsequent post.
The de minimis rule hits us pulling in tech from China which is not available in-country. 25% duty collected by shipper before delivery. It's not breaking our ability to deliver for B2B customers, but it's a meaningful increase to COGS, which is pure pass-through. FWIW.
@gruntpa I think you’re close enough to Irmo, I’d at least make the trek to attend The Garden Church there. May not be an every Sunday thing, but the pastor is awesome - I watch him on YT regularly from thousands of miles away. They may have recommendations, too.
