Coco Gauff says her loss to Karolina Muchova in the Wimbledon semifinals is not a painful story, ‘Someone had to lose and unfortunately it was me today’
“I mean, as much painful as it is from the outside.. I was down 7-4 in the second round and I’m here in the semis. I had a point on my racquet at a tournament I didn’t think it would be this year I’d make the semis. It’s not a painful story. I think thousands of people would love to lose the semifinals of Wimbledon on match point. Is it something I’d love to experience again? For sure, no. But it’ll make my next moment when I win a match like this even sweeter. It’s just one of those days where it didn’t go my way. Someone had to lose and unfortunately it was me today.” 🥹

“Maybe for someone like Iga who has won so many slams … or maybe someone like Serena or Venus this achievement may seem small, but for someone who grew up in the Philippines. … for her this is everything.”

ANOTHER UPSET AT THE FRENCH OPEN! 😱
With World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka's loss, there will be no former major champion left in both the men's or women's semifinal.
The last major when that happened was the 1977 French Open.
