Remaining finalists in the competition included Gabrielle Barber, soprano of Hope College, Katherine Short, mezzo-soprano, and sopranos Grace VanHoven and Caitlin Borke, of Western Michigan University and Maria Simaz, soprano of Grand Valley State University.
Opera Grand Rapids’ 15th annual Collegiate Vocal Competition received 23 applicants, named eight finalists and selected four winners.
Travis L. Williams, a senior and tenor from Western Michigan University, took home the Division I first prize award.
Opera Grand Rapids proudly announces soprano Sarah Joy Miller will sing the role of Violetta Valery in our June production of Verdi's 'La Traviata'. Ms. Miller replaces soprano, Elizabeth Caballero, who has withdrawn from the production.
Ms. Miller thrilled West Michigan audiences with her portrayal of Juliet in Opera Grand Rapids’ acclaimed new production of 'Romeo et Juliette' in April 2016.
