@naijashimadunnn Also , Fuji is rooted in Yoruba social ethos . Yoruba bourgeoisie are juju fanatics ( Obey / KSA) . Artisans are likely to settle with Fuji . Fuji fans crave the gamut as well as the indigenous expression - from the cultural crafted instruments - to the esoteric proverbs .
@hallaboutafrica Aina rebuffed the current artistic genre he met in Nigeria calling it “ artistic mimicking which lack science or art.”
When Picasso saw Enwowu’s paintings, he advised Enwowu to revert back to the wood carving style popular known amongst African artists.
Enwowu snubbed Picasso.
@70thingxx Nigeria will change when everyone - from the elites down to the rabble have exhausted their embedded gift in forbearance and discard her stale breath situated at the threshold…waiting and snorting , drowning or swimming , until she lure the elusive bowl .
@ChisomAgbafor A job can never make anyone rich …it’s a universal fact , and not peculiar to Nigeria. Nobody passes a fantastic job to their children; but you can bequeath a business, properties, land , etc.,to your kids… Government’s duty is to create an enabling environment, not jobs …
@Wizarab10 I stop watching Nollywood movies more than a decade ago.. I find most of them too prosaic , philistine , full of platitudes and invariably bourgeois.
My predilection are movies which were created from a fictional book ,e.g, Death and King’s Horseman , Director : Biyi Bandele .
@CenteEngr International airport in Lagos ( Yorubaland ) is named after an Hausa man.
International airport in Abuja ( Hausa territory) is named after an Ibo man.
International airport in Enugu ( Iboland ) is named after an Ibo man.
Power becomes elusive when it is petty and myopic .
@xagreat Kano and Lagos have similar population : 22M .
Kano has 44 LGS .
Lagos has 22 LGS.
Jigawa State was carved out from Kano State in 1991. Hence Kano State , in spite of losing some land for the creation of Jigawa State , increase its population and LGS .
@adeosunm Sir , with all due respect , our education in Nigeria is questionable? …. All the houses in Ikoyi , including the foreign embassy buildings have boreholes ; albeit water treatment mechanism filters this strange way of getting water .
@kilzthegreat@Big_Mck Schematics are available if you know where to look , besides , art is precursor to history. History is written after art has been created . To ask for schematics before you recognise great art is like asking a doctor which school he or she went to before the surgery begins…
@kilzthegreat@Big_Mck Who told you the records and knowledge were not preserved?
Indeed , you assume anthropology and archaeology are alien to Africa , at best exclusive to only Western society..
@OgbeniDemola Pan Africanism is a state of mind . Our challenges in today’s Africa is low productivity . The West are not telling African leaders to loot their own resources . Objectivity & comparative analysis are the barometer of education. So charity ought to begin at home.
@OgbeniDemola We didn’t suffer the same fate.
The British who colonised West Africa were bureaucrats while the British that ruled East Africa were farmers/ land holders.
In West Africa diplomacy gave them independence. In East Africa independence came via bloodshed.
@pambanisha@EMEKA_EMODI Good luck on bolshevism . May I remind you the originators of bolshevism have discarded it , reduce to a mere fraction in the arena of economic sensitivity and reference to a despotic past , at best , a darker part of their history.
Good luck ..
@AfricanPatriot_ But we have plethoras of economist , financiers across the continent , and yet , in the case of Nigeria , we found a borehole system in a house valued at N30B located in an affluent suburb in Lagos State.
Education teaches you how to think not what to think .
@pambanisha@EMEKA_EMODI I confess , I wish not to belong to that school of thought whose expression in art has deviated from its pedestal.
The purpose of art is not to solve social problems. Fetch a politician or an administrator for such things..
@Iyoaiye_ Nigerian elites never hesitate to admonish their constituency about the futile expectation after studying Political Science in Nigeria. It’s a worthless course in Nigeria , they warn.
Those courses you think are useful in Nigeria - what are their effect upon our environment?
@jamesonen There isn’t a formula for what constitute a ‘ good ‘ education , but my view is education should have a liberal thread about it. Education must absorb the mind from comparative opus instead of plucking absolute ideologues .
Finest education is Liberal Arts/ Humanities.
@TundeObadina1 One of the antidote for economic development in Nigeria is uninterrupted power supply. Industrialisation needs electricity to scale not only local goods but sustain higher purchasing power.
Education & healthcare must find its way into Nigeria’s developmental plan .
