Yet *another* consultation launched by Southwark on the closed junction in Dulwich. Thousands of council working hours and £tens of thousands spent on this small patch of land. Meanwhile, residents on Croxted are ignored by the council over concerns of this daily congestion.

A few weeks ago, TfL published 'The impacts of Low Traffic Neighbourhoods - a summary of evidence.'
They said 20% of people cycling were children in parts of the Dulwich LTN.
We asked TfL where they got their evidence from.

We are very pleased the council has seen the light. If only they hadn't been so arrogant about their borough wide policy we could have had a very different conversation @mcash. We're watching how they engage about the smaller CPZs.
While #Southwark Council has scrapped plans for parking permit systems in two wards, they could yet implement them in #Dulwich Village, #Nunhead and Queen’s Road.

There was no election pledge, although they tried to suggest it. This was an abject failure to consult with residents and a supreme example of the ivory tower mentality that exists in the council.
Another Southwark council fail. First their attempt to close Turney Rd, now they’ve had to abandon their election pledge to put in CPZs in Dulwich. When will they now realise that their LTNs have not worked after almost 4 years of letting them “bed in”?
The summary of evidence on LTNs, published by TfL, makes for interesting reading.
Let's take a closer look at their sources...
Remember Anna Goodman?
The same 'impartial' academic caught ripping a poster from a shop window advertising a petition against LTNs in West Dulwich.
An amazing turnout by local residents (& friends!) to support Croxted 👏👏
Very telling that *no one* from the pro-LTN lobby bothered to show, nor any of the local cllrs, despite being invited. Apparently they were *all* "too busy" to attend...🤔🤡

Cllr Reginald Popoola:
"If the majority do say no, that does not mean we will change the decision.”
Southwark spend £100ks on consultations, ignore the results and now they just openly admit to it.
The same happened with LTNs in Dulwich.

Is this how you create a more equal borough @mcash? A failure of strategy from an ivory tower @lb_southwark council. Pave front gardens. Force cars to cross pavements.
🧵
A consequence of the Southwark-imposed borough wide CPZ:
We hear very prominent pro-LTN supporters in Dulwich are applying for planning permission for dropped kerbs so they can avoid paying for parking permits for their cars.

Cycle hangers (or parking) should never impede pedestrian space - 2m clear pavement is required for accessibility. There should also be storage options for Disabled cyclists and others with non-standard cycles.

It's clear to see why Southwark love the Dulwich LTNs. Just *one* camera from *one* road that's only closed for 2.5 hrs a day is netting them almost £3m a year.
Worth also mentioning 100+ more cyclists per day use Croxted Rd than Dulwich Village.

Earlier this year over 2,000 of you shared your hopes for #Southwark2030. We've listened and drawn up eight ambitions for the borough. Now we want to hear from you again - share your thoughts on what these might mean for your neighbourhood https://t.co/G2TdMfydYK
Democracy in action. @McAsh continues to present a one-sided view of CPZs, cherry-picking a broadly supporting article and ignoring another talking about how councillors aren't listening to residents.

Our experience across the borough is always the same: parking permits are controversial before implementation but quickly become popular.
We almost never receive requests to have them removed.

In two weeks we've collected almost 1500 signatures on a letter challenging @lb_southwark's legal and factual bases for their borough-wide CPZ.

At a council meeting yesterday on Southwark's plan to impose a borough wide CPZ, local cllrs were telling older residents their views didn't matter anymore because it's all about "younger people now."
Why do local cllrs think our older residents no longer matter?

Same applies to CPZs and the ill-considered borough-wide policy adopted by @lb_southwark and unsympathetically peddled by @mcash@GavinEdwards77 and other local councillors. They cannot objectively defend their policy or provide data to support it.
It's all too common for local cllrs to admit the issue, but ignore how *they've* made it worse. Self-proclaimed architect of the Dulwich LTNs says Dulwich a complex issue for traffic, yet the road closures force all the congestion and pollution on to roads where our schools are.
