Mothers — this is for you.
When a 13-year-old gets pregnant, the conversation rushes to "the man." It rarely asks the question that predicts the event years in advance.
▸ Girls with Borderline Personality Disorder have 14.5x higher risk of teenage pregnancy (Taiwan nationwide cohort, n=8,899)
▸ 18.3% of girls with BPD become pregnant as teens vs 1.7% without (same study)
▸ 87% of BPD diagnoses are female (American Psychiatric Association)
▸ BPD onset peaks between puberty and early adulthood
Early signs to recognize in your daughter between ages 11-14:
▸ Intense fear of abandonment
▸ Black-and-white thinking about people
▸ Rapid mood shifts that feel "too big"
▸ Impulsive decisions she can't explain afterward
▸ Unstable sense of self
▸ Difficulty being alone
One more thing.
48.9% of mothers with BPD were themselves under child protection services as girls (Quebec study, n=1,875).
The pattern transfers. If 87% of BPD is female, your daughter may carry traits you also carry, partially. And likely more than your mother did 30-40 years ago, because you grew up in a more emotionally absent generation than hers.
Recognizing it in yourself is the first protection for her.
What works: Dialectical Behavior Therapy — for adolescents (DBT-A) and adults. Evidence-based, reduces self-harm, suicidal ideation, and emotional dysregulation.

Emotional awareness at 11 prevents the crisis at 13.
Emotional awareness in the mother prevents the inheritance.
There is no right to be irresponsible.

Profile of the divorced US male:
▸ 70% of divorces — filed by her (Brinig & Allen, 2000)
▸ 78% of custodial parents — female (US Census P60-285, 2022)
▸ 61% of first-marriage divorces involve children under 18 (CDC/NCHS)
▸ 0% of those children filed the divorce
▸ 63% of married women earn less than husbands (IFS, 2023)
▸ Median child support received: $1,800/yr (US Census CPS-CSS, via USAFacts)
▸ Mother is the alienating parent in 68% of court-confirmed cases (Bala et al., 2010)
▸ Children of divorce: 8% lower high school completion, 12% lower college attendance (PNAS, 2019); 29% higher depression odds, 48% higher suicidal ideation odds, 64% higher smoking odds (Auersperg et al. meta-analysis, n=506,299)
Cultural verdict: he caused it.
One demographic marries the woman who earns less, supports the household, loses the children to a separation he didn't initiate, pays support for fifteen years — while the children themselves, who chose none of this, carry the highest cost.
The adults divorce. The children are divided.

@SwiftieLee1 Dating in your 30s is crazy because you're getting hit on by women in their 20s and their 40s but their drama is about the same.

@DollDusty2206 The Prince never asked for a "poor girl to rescue."
He got hooked by the prettiest hypergamist in the room — while 100 women circled him for the same reason.

@hell_line0 Everyone talks about hot, successful, smart girls who can't find partners. No one talks about the male loneliness epidemic that ends in suicide 4x more often.
One has a dating problem. The other has a dying problem.

@teefehbaby If a woman wants you, she'll get you = romantic.
If a man wants you, he'll get you = predatory.
Same sentence. Different reaction. That's the mirror.

@ItsMrsRabbitToU The only reason men have any responsibilities is because MEN got loud and difficult and demanded those responsibilities. The next time a woman tells you "men were given everything" tell her to stfu and read a history book.
