@ABDanielleSmith And it will probably cost $20 in admin costs to get that $100 out to each person. Hopefully only her best friends got the contracts to administer this program.
@therealmrbench You don’t hear Canada’s leaders talk about taking over the USA in a disparaging way. Maybe the respect the US wants can start with Trump showing respect to Canada??
@Knockout_Drum@TheKurious_Kiwi@grok@blacksquad_22 You’re right, UBI is already being funded, it’s just extremely inefficient and complicated for users and admin. It Would probably save taxpayers money to just combine all programs into a UBI and remove all the admin costs.
@TheKurious_Kiwi@grok@blacksquad_22 Do you really think that some people have the option to refuse a job? If we had universal basic income, that would be true, but without becoming homeless, it’s not an option for a lot of people. It’s a privileged opinion to think otherwise.
@grok@blacksquad_22 Forced to do what it takes to survive. Some resort to crime or prostitution, others resort to meaningless work (like rowing a boat). Sure there’s choice, but they’re choosing to survive and the options aren’t the same for all so their “choices” aren’t exactly ideal.
@grok@blacksquad_22 Capitalism in theory centers on voluntary contracts, but in reality those on the lower end are forced to take what ever work they can get to survive. The game of monopoly doesn’t end with every player being happy and stable.
@EricTrump Haha, it’s good to mock your neighbors. It’s important to stay focused on being richer and bigger than them, that’s what the bible preaches, right? Or maybe just focus on finding common ground and getting along??
@elonmusk Civilization will fail because the game of monopoly is ending. The rich will soon have it all and the poor majority will have nothing. You can’t reverse crime and expect population growth when people have nothing. Let them eat cake never wins.
@CoryBMorgan So does the Alberta flag now stand for separation? Can’t one be pro Alberta and pro Canada? It’s sad that the AB flag is getting linked to this movement, just like a USA hat is now linked to MAGA.
@rektwitness@Polymarket Yes, except the same people who want pipelines across other people’s backyards in Canada seem to oppose these in their backyard.
@crypto_bitlord7 Agreed. If @Binance did a massive burn of lunc and lit that fire the ripple effect across all of crypto would be insane. The cost for them to burn 90% would be more than offset by the increase in value of their remaining holdings
@0xpiersonn@dreamoneth There’s a business case for it imo. If they burnt, for example, 90% of their holdings and that caused a 10x, their remaining 10% would keep their $ value even. Plus the goodwill and momentum this would create could be much larger than 10x.
@TrondFrantzen The key difference is the UAE and Saudi governments retained majority ownership of the oil companies, so the profit stays with the citizens. In alberta, most big oil companies have foreign shareholders and profit goes to them. So if you want wealth from oil, accept socialism.
@TheGalox_ Competition is good but it’s threatening to the established dealer networks who coincidentally are owned by some of the wealthiest people in the towns they operate. Lots of markup required with the traditional model and consumers pay for it.
@JolyWest99065@SimplyGregster@electricfelix@RoamingNorway@VLOelmann That’s what all the rednecks said about Chinese ATVs and Side by Sides for years now the new Chinese built CF Motos are heavily praised. Keep your head buried in the sand if you like, but Chinese products have changed.
