Last week in Ohafia, Abia State, @NASENIHQ handed out some of the things it actually makes.... solar-powered fans, cooking stoves, and solar home systems.....as part of its sustainable empowerment programme.

Last week @KSHalilu led @NASENIHQ distributed locally produced solar home systems, solar fans and clean cookstoves to 250 residents of Asaga, Ohafia in Abia State under the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme; designed to cut energy costs, extend business hours and improve livelihoods in a community already known for enterprise and manufacturing.

This is the beginning of a broader push to put Nigerian-made solutions directly in people’s hands.

The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, @NASENIHQ , has taken its empowerment drive to Abia State, equipping residents with practical skills, tools, and resources to boost local innovation and entrepreneurship.

As aired on Arise News, the empowerment program targeted youth, artisans, and small business owners across Abia. Beneficiaries received training and starter packs in areas aligned with NASENI’s mandate of home-grown technology and industrialization. The focus was on skills that can be immediately applied to create jobs, add value to local resources, and support Made-in-Nigeria products.

Speaking at the event, the Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, @KSHalilu , said the intervention reflects the agency’s commitment to taking science and technology to the grassroots.

OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS TERRORIST ATTACK ON KUKAWA, NEUTRALISES 26 TERRORISTS, DESTROYS 10 MOTORCYCLES

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, have foiled a terrorist attack on Kukawa town, Borno State, neutralising at least 26 terrorists and destroying 10 motorcycles during coordinated ground and air operations.

The terrorists attacked troops of 101 Special Forces Battalion at about 10:50pm on August 28, 2026, but were repelled by effective ground fire and forced to withdraw towards the Cross Kauwa axis.

As the terrorists fled on motorcycles, the Air Component, supported by Multi-National Joint Task Force intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance assets, tracked and engaged them despite challenging weather conditions.

The air strikes neutralised about 25 terrorists and destroyed 10 motorcycles, while subsequent ground exploitation led to the recovery of two motorcycles, additional ammunition and other items, as well as the neutralisation of another terrorist.

Four soldiers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were evacuated by air for medical attention. They are reportedly in stable condition.

The troops have since commenced further exploitation and reorganisation of the area as Operation HADIN KAI sustains offensive operations to degrade terrorist capabilities and protect communities across the North-East.

"The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) on Thursday launched its Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) in Abia.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the ceremony which held at Uma Ukpai Memorial Primary School, Asaga, Ohafia, targeted about 250 beneficiaries.

The ​‌‌‍‌‌‌‍⁠⁠‌‍​​⁠‌‌‍⁠‌​empowerment items distributed were home solar systems; comprising solar fans, solar panels and clean cooking stoves.

Mr Khalil Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, said science and technology must go beyond laboratories to impact livelihoods.

He said that NSEP was designed to take NASENI directly to Nigerians with skills, tools and technologies for productivity.

He noted that Abia’s enterprise and manufacturing culture aligned with NASENI’s new focus on creation, collaboration and commercialisation.

Halilu urged the beneficiaries to see the support as an investment in their productive capacity and not a handout.

He stressed that @NASENIHQ would measure success by lives improved, businesses strengthened and communities made more productive.

@KSHalilu explained that clean cooking stoves would reduce dependence on wood while solar systems would power shops and schools.

He said the programme was continuous and would empower hundreds of beneficiaries across the country.

The NASENI boss appreciated Dr Armstrong Takang, the Managing Director of Ministry of Finance Incorporated, for supporting the programme, adding that it would not have been possible without him."

At the event, the executive vice chairman/chief executive officer of the agency, Khalil Suleiman Halilu (@KSHalilu), said the programme was part of the agency’s mandate which is ultimately about people.
