Gonna be so honest, misogyny from the audience is a big factor but i don't want anyone to let the marketing team off the hook either. There was almost no marketing for this movie, one ugly ass poster for months and no hype built when they already had the foundations with superman
saw someone say that “Superman is who you want to be, while Supergirl is who you actually are when life gets tough but you keep trying anyway” and i think that's really beautiful
for some reason, supergirl is being held to a higher standard than most movies. it's not going to be remembered among the greatest comic book movies, but it's a solid and enjoyable film, and milly alcock and eve ridley both give captivating performances.
