Update: the whale has been successfully freed! Once submerged, the rescue team was able to safely pull the whale away from the beach and towards the ocean.

Update: the whale is a 12-13m long sei whale. MAST will go ahead with a rescue attempt tonight at high tide if the whale remains in stable condition. It is currently being closely monitored and kept wet.
