ANNOUNCING THE 2026 RECIPIENTS OF THE DR. ADESEGUN AKIN OLUGBADE, OON SCHOLARSHIP PRIZE

The @Nigeria_ILA is pleased to announce the 2026 recipients of the Dr. Adesegun Akin-Olugbade, OON Scholarship Prize for the Study of International Law and Diplomacy.

This prestigious scholarship provides free tuition for young and fast rising international law enthusiasts to attend the Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Law and Diplomacy Course organized by ILA Nigeria, in partnership with the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (@nialsorg) and the Nigerian Bar Association, Institute for Continued Legal Education (NBA-ICLE). The course is scheduled for July 20-24, 2026 at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Abuja.

The President of ILA Nigeria, Professor Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, FCIArb @dsolawuyi has consequently sent a letter of congratulations to each of the recipients, expressing his firm eagerness to meet them in person soon.

Olawuyi identified insufficient stakeholder engagement as a major factor behind growing conflicts and insecurity globally and urged governments, investors and businesses to integrate human rights considerations into all stages of planning and development in line with the #UNGPs, to ensure that no one is left behind.

From cultural displays to insightful welcome remarks, the opening ceremony of the 8th Annual Conference of the @Nigeria_ILA captured the very best of African hospitality and culture.

Welcome remarks by our amazing host, the Vice Chancellor of @Abuad_Uni, Professor Smaranda Olarinde, opening remarks by the President of ILA Nigeria, Prof. @dsolawuyi and by the Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, Dr. @adenikeakins were followed by the statement of the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, delivered by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dayo Apata, SAN, and statement by the Honourable Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration and Employment of Gambia, and special guest of honour at the event, Hon. Baboucarr Ousmaila Joof, all of which set the stage for the rest of the conference.
