@LaCivilian@mcuban Actually no my point was that CMS pays some specialties a reasonable FFS rate, but not mine. And that any hospital engaging in some sort of M4A arrangement necessarily will have to substantially subsidize specialties like mine that are significantly underpaid by CMS.
@doctorwes You fought longer and harder than anyone, went down swinging trying to do the right thing. Bravo for the effort. All of us truly truly appreciate it.
BREAKING NEWS: WSJ just published an op-ed by Dr. Paul Teirstein on how the current board certification monopoly is driving physicians out of medicine. It’s time for change!
@WSJ @HHSGov @FTC @TheJusticeDept https://t.co/lAzZKgjCwX
@POCUSpeek@acutemedicine@Pocus101@5MinSono Use the Arrow a-line kit and wire it once you get in to the vessel- makes doing this much much easier and can get into deeper vessels. And the Arrow catheter doesn’t easily kink- voila 20g IV.
“22,000 doctors stood up and said: Enough.”
Dr. Teirstein reflects on the founding of the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS) and the ongoing fight against the monopoly controlling continuous board certification. Even today, some hospitals continue to deny privileges to highly qualified physicians simply because they are not certified by that monopoly.
It’s time to rethink continuous certification.
It’s time to amplify physician voices.
It’s time for change.

@VPrasadMDMPH Nah, it’s a terrible thread. Start with the most egregious claim- that the Medicare rate for anesthesia is fair. It’s the only speciality that has such a large delta between Medicare and private rates. To paint us as greedily abusing surprise billing is outlandish. This isn’t it.
@AuforGA@ASALifeline@ASAGrassroots@womenMDinanesth Soooo can we just not pay the complete amount of our insurance premiums but still expect 100% of the coverage, since this is apparently now how the market works?
"Doctors Deserve to Be Treated as Professionals" - Dr. Howard Schulman
Dr. Howard Schulman, a general internist practicing in Rhode Island since 1995, shares his perspective in a recent opinion piece in The Providence Journal. He highlights a concerning disparity: while Physician Assistants are not required to maintain their certification, physicians must shoulder the burdensome and costly Maintenance of Certification (MOC) requirements just to remain employed. Dr. Schulman questions whether these requirements truly improve patient care or instead unnecessarily reduce access to board-certified physicians, urging a reevaluation of how medical professionals are treated.
By joining the National Board of Physicians and Surgeons (NBPAS), physicians can advocate for a less burdensome, evidence-based continuous board certification pathway. Join NBPAS - https://t.co/mfYCWUa6Fd
