In case you didn't watch 🇪🇸Spain 0-0 🇨🇻 Cabo Verde:
>Cabo Verde, a nation with a population of 500k, just held the World Cup favorite scoreless. one of the greatest underdog performances ever.
>Spain DOMINATED start to finish but Cabo Verde's defense put up the performance of their lives.
>Holy f**k, Cabo Verde's 40 y/o keeper had the best WC GK performance I've watched since Ochoa vs Brazil in 2014
>Ferran Torres absolute stinker — Almost 2022 Lukaku vs Croatia level.
>Gavi ghosted.
>Oyarzabal became the first player since 1966 to not record a single touch in the first 30 minutes of a World Cup match.
>Spain desperately need Williams & Yamal up top for the rest of the tournament. They looked so threatening for the short time they were on.
>This was Cabo Verde's first ever World Cup point
>Lamine Yamal & Nico Williams started on the bench (recovering from injuries) but needed to be brought on late by Spain
>Spain outshot Cabo 23-6, had 73% possession, completed 764 passes & had 8 shots on target.
>The last time Spain didn't score in their World Cup opening match, they went on to win the World Cup (2010)
>Spain have now gone 4 World Cup matches in a row without a win — last win was the first group game of the 2022 WC
>This was the fist 0-0 WC match since Spain drew Morocco 0-0 in the 2022 Round of 16 (Spain lose 3-0 in PKs)
>Spain hasn't scored a WC goal since their 2-1 loss to Japan in the 2022 group stage
>Biggest winners of the match was Vozinha (Cabo's 40 y/o keeper, up like 1M followers on IG) & Cabo Verde women.
>My match opinion:
-It's easy to point and laugh at spain but these matches happen every tournament.
-Breaking down teams who park 11 in the box all match is incredibly difficulty.
-Spain will look a lot better against teams who attack more — Their defense is incredible & their ability to counter attack is even better.
-In 2022 Argentina lose 2-1 to Saudi Arabia & France lose 1-0 to Tunisia. Spain will be fine
