A community cooperative vegetable growing space / coffee space / wellbeing space / plant based food space / fresh vegetables to refugees & asylum seekers...
Harvesting vegetables is when a farmers journey with a crop is nearly done. It’s so satisfying knowing that seeds you planted a short while ago become your dinner. They say this is the good life and they aren’t wrong!
A few of our team took some time out from weeding and harvesting to do a photoshoot for @originflowersni... In a forest! Growing veg isn't all that happens at Origin - it's a space for creativity, wellbeing, coaching, storytelling and more... https://t.co/fR742K5QiO
Prepping the ground to plant some overwinter veg. We’re still harvesting kale, broccoli, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, kohlrabi, spinach, leeks, runner beans, spring onions and beetroot from these beds, and will still be harvesting for a good few weeks yet!
These leeks had to be replanted about 4 times!! One of our chickens was determined to make it’s bed among them. Still they persevered through and they are the best leeks we have ever grown. There’s always a story behind veggies at origin.
We had a great time celebrating Diana's birthday yesterday. Diana is one of our cooperative team, who helps keep Origin going year round. She's awesome! She's also one of the many vegans on our team, so everything, including the delicious cake was 100% plant based!! 😍😋
We're constantly harvesting these days 😀 Our cooperative team and volunteers get a cut home with them, we donate lots to the Farmbox project, and we make up some veg boxes for collection too. We love seeing everyone enjoying the freshest of veg!
Harvest day. Lots of veg is being prepped before heading to those who need fresh food. Come help us harvest, and then plant more, plus there's always a load of weeding needing done. We're working in the polytunnels and fields from 10-4. Come join us.
Working our hands through the earth helps us feel connected to everything. Yes, our hands may get mucky but in the muck and madness beautiful things grow.
Maybe the favourite thing we grow... beetroot! Our cooperative team eat A LOT of them. Plus we've grown more than ever this year, so we've had lots to send our in veg boxes locally and to Belfast, as we support refugees and asylum seeker families via the FarmBox project.
Is there anything better than digging through the soil to harvest potatoes. We will be harvesting these charlottes for the next few weeks. Perfect salad potato 💚 @ Origin https://t.co/fKblD62Nzq
Surprised one of our volunteers with a two night tipi stay on site! It was the best craic and a very luxurious camping experience. Waking up with views of the flower & veg fields, flat whites on tap, pizza in the… https://t.co/sLKfyJIYc6
