Yesterday was #WorldTourismDay and although we're a day late, we had to celebrate by showcasing Castell Dinas Bran,
AKA "crow's fortress" or "fortress of Brân", the castle was built in the 1260s by Gruffydd Maelor II, a prince of Powys Fadog

Happy belated Spring equinox! The sun is feeling stronger and the land is looking greener, we've been out foraging little bits for our meals here in Wales and enjoying the longer daylight hours.

Sharp tools are safer and more efficient tools. The extra force that you need to put into cutting with a blunt edge means that you are more likely to slip and injure yourself. Now is a great time of year for tool care. Clean, inspect and sharpen.

These little jewels are out in force currently- Scarlet Elf Cup. Found in damp, deciduous woodland on logs in the depths of decay, these bright red funghi are hard to mistake. We love them so much that we've even added them to our directory - https://t.co/3NrlUVGgGw
As we head into winter you may be thinking it pointless to go outside but we think that you couldn't be more wrong. Winter is one of our favourite times to visit the coast, experience the power of the sea, find driftwood and it's a prime time to forage for any filter feeders!
Fellow bushcraft establishment @hiddenvalleybushcraft are well worth checking out, based down south in the Chew Valley they specialise in bushcraft for all ages and have a great youtube channel too - https://t.co/LFrjdzNNXS

As the days draw ever shorter the temptation to spend any daylight hours outdoors seems to grow stronger. However, unsettled weather can lead to troubles navigating. Do you have any 'tricks' to keep you on track navigating in less than ideal conditions?

What do you do after attending training? Many skills we learn through life are perishable, not like riding a bike. A term which you will hear often is "use it or lose it". We believe that if you have spent the time learning something then it's worth the effort to maintain it.
#Tuesdaytrivia Did you know that buying a compass isn't an entirely quick and simple task? There are a number of different options to choose from, one of these is whether to buy a compass broken down into degrees or mils, we have a blog post to explain- https://t.co/qkL594gy98
#tbt - Last spring's L1 Inland Foraging Basics course ran on a slightly nippy but gloriously sunny day, full of greenery! You can book now for this course by going to our website https://t.co/EXztMqBzYh
#triviatuesday - This year on our Foraging and Wild Foods Courses we talked about 54 different species. From Ash keys to Wood Ear, we covered a lot of edibles and also several species to avoid whilst out collecting those prized wild ingredients.
#skillsharesunday - Finding dry firewood is always possible, and very important if your only way of getting dry and warm is by lighting a fire. Look for standing deadwood rather than timber on the ground, and place damp logs to dry before they go on the fire to maximise potential
#tuesdaytrivia Stinging nettles (Urtica dioica) are something of a native superfood in the UK, containing high amounts of protein and iron. Use the young tops as a Spinach substitute or make tea with them. Even better is the fact that you can use the stems to make strong cordage
#skillsharesunday - Not so much a skill but definitely a good tip! On multiple day hikes in changeable weather it can be worthwhile taking advantage of a sunny spell to dry out some gear.
