@khsurveyors Looks like fatter slates have been laid next to thinner ones resulting in kickers. Fatter slates are usually laid at the eaves and get thinner as the top, but with random roofs thereโs more of a mix and having un-straight slates can help a roof sit true, more akin to stonewalling
@jonesandfraser I think itโs interesting that if I stripped a stone roof and did this detail Iโd be called a cowboy, but as itโs old, itโs seen as a practical efficient work around? Funny how perception works!
@abheritageroof1@jonesandfraser Went to see this little beauty the other day, note the glass tiles allowing the magnificence to shine inside- what a church!
@TheCCT @jamesweirhbc @HorncastlePol Be good to know exactly why that happened so that professionals can look out for similar structural flaws in other buildings. Lucky no one was near it when it collapsed.
@EgertonSurveyor Come across allot of this type of work, especially with green ransoms where the side laps are too close. We use EPDM rubber to bridge under the dubious areas and patch damage slates accordingly. Many trusts, homeowners and churches canโt afford re-Roofs
